Well I haven’t been on here in a while (the company has blocked tumblr, but I just HAD to get past that to write this), but I just got sent a link today that I thought was strange. It’s a link to a newspaper article which says:
Thai authorities sentenced a Saudi man in Bangkok to two years in jail on charges of spreading online rumors that Queen Sirikit has died, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Monday.
The Saudi embassy in the Thai capital has appointed a lawyer to appeal the sentence against the man, who is married to a Thai woman and has three children, the Arabic language daily Alriyadh said.
“The Saudi embassy took the occasion to warn Saudi citizens in Thailand against violating the law there in order to avert prosecution,” the paper said.
For those of you who don’t know, Saudi refuses its citizens from visiting Thailand at all (you can even check on google) except for Diplomats who have to go straight to the embassy, stay there, conduct business there, then leave.
So first of all the embassy are actually getting him a lawyer, and then are even telling Saudi citizens to make sure to follow the law while visiting a country they’re not allowing them to go to? Hmm, strange.
Well back to work now I guess *roll eyes*.
